The Book
The Making of a Grateful Mind and a Life of Earned Peace. A hybrid memoir and guided practice: 100 days that change how you carry what’s in front of you.
This is not your typical gratitude book. It was written in the depths of hardship, where all that was left in my control were my response and my perspective. Within six weeks, nearly everything I’d built came apart: career, family, plan. Zero to 54 is the true story of what happened next, and the practice that carried me through it: not gratitude as positivity, but gratitude as a working tool for seeing clearly and staying grounded under pressure.
The title comes from the test. With ten weeks of training and almost no running background, I ran a 54-mile ultramarathon, zero to 54, to prove to myself that the practice held up when everything hurt and nobody was watching.
The book pairs the story with a 100-day guided practice built on three moves, done daily:
01
Take on the challenge in front of you, deliberately, on purpose, before life picks one for you.
02
Do what you said you were going to do. Especially on the days it’s hard and nobody’s watching.
03
Move forward grateful, not for how things turned out, but for the chance to do the work.
“Gratitude didn’t make my life better. It made me better.”
